Rattlers of Belmont Elementary School were offered the opportunity to pelt Principal Felzien with water balloons.

It's that time of the year at Belmont Elementary School as Principal Felzien and staff welcomed Rattlers and family members for an afternoon of fun, friendship and prizes.

For having their artwork showcased during the 83rd annual Colorado Association of School Boards state convention at The Broadmoor, artists from the elementary, middle, and high school level were recognized Tuesday by the Board of Education and Superintendent Charlotte Macaluso.

For the past three years, Belmont Elementary Principal Kylie Felzien has rewarded the fundraising efforts of her Rattlers with something fun and wet. As the Rattlers raised $7,500 for school functions such as field trips, every scholar was entitled to toss at least one water balloon at Principal Felzien.

As a fun summer school activity, Misti was invited to Morton to lead the youngsters in creating a sun/moon motif in the famous abstract style of the famous Pablo Picasso.

For 100 students from our elementary, middle and high schools, an early Christmas present in the form of a fresh new hairstyle and vibrant nails was bestowed through the generosity of the Pueblo Community College Cosmetology Program and Michelle Garcia, coordinator of House Bill 1451 (Collaborative Management Program.)

In conjunction with the U.N’s International Day of Peace, and in anticipation of the October 22 D60 Community Peace Summit at the Pueblo Convention Center, the Rattlers of Belmont Elementary School made colorful and uplifting pinwheels, which were then attached to hallway lighting fixtures throughout the building.
